New series of webinars on Flood Risk Management

Whether you’re working on forecasting models, evacuation planning, or the economic impact of disasters — your experience and insights are very welcome. Listening, learning, contributing, discussing ; we’re doing it together. We’d love to have you involved.

We’re building this European team step by step. That means interactive sessions, short introductions, and above all: workshops where we actually get to work. For now we’ll meet online, but we’re working towards securing a budget to meet in person as well.

In the upcoming series, we will take 3 countries to lead the learning sessions.

First online webinar of this series

Our first webinar, 23^rd of April, 13:00 CET will focus on recent cases in Greece and Spain. Regions involved are;

• Thessaly region and the Regional Unit of Magnesia-City of Volos (floodings of 2023 and 2026)
• the Valencia floodings of 2024 and 2026.
• Recent floodings of 2026 in Portugal

We will take a broad look at each flood event, touching only briefly upon the following topics; forecasting and information availability, social and economic impact, evacuation processes, recovery, and building back better. Your thoughts and input will help shape the rest of the more deepening series.

We will still focus in the following webinars on these countries, for now. Of course, also other cases are of great interest; we will included these in a next series.

 We are planning some follow‑up, deepening sessions about;

• Information availability
• Recovery and finance (building back better)
• City sponge
• Communications and fake news
